In case you didn’t know, your disco needs you

Princess Persia Ali from She-Dick (she’s the b!tchy one) sent this video out earlier today. Normally, I don’t pay attention to many of the bulletins that make it my way but something told me to check this out. Now, I’m determining whether I should regret it or not.

Not being much of a Kylie Minogue fan, I never knew her repertoire contained the cheesy ditty, “Your Disco Needs You”. She’s a bad singer with a really bad song but I was mesmerized by the video. That neon spectacle and elementary special effects make this a so-bad-it’s-good video, or at least a very guilty indulgence. And guilty in the OJ sense. So if you want to kill three + something minutes of your life, check out to see if disco needs you, because country and rock are apparently fine.

Slammed

Sorry, guys, but I’m taking the week off. I’ve been slammed with lots of work and homework and by the time I get to ye olde bloggie, I’m zapped.

Unless someone brings me tacos from any of these places, I will simply resume posting next Monday. Until then, let me leave you with a video.

This was my first concert. Now, the video is titled The Jacksons Victory Tour Dallas 1984 but I could swear he says L.A. in it. Meh. It was my first and it was friggin’ phenomenal. The show was at Texas Stadium and the same weekend Van Halen was performing at Reunion Arena. The coolest surprise was when Eddie VH came out to play his solo on MJ’s Beat It. There aren’t superstar concerts like this anymore.

Ahh…good times.

The riot is now quiet.

I can’t say I was ever a big fan of Quiet Riot but I’m a little bummed by this news that their lead singer, Kevin DuBrow, had died. Mostly because I’ve been getting in touch with my 80s metal roots lately and they were right there in the thick of things. So, while not a fan, I’m going to post up one of their vids as both memoriam and my nostalgic video of the day.

I always loved that mask though. Cool.

Nostalgic Video of the Day

I have to admit back in my middle/high school days, I was a closeted headbanger. Actually, I think people knew I loved me some hair metal but I totally wasn’t in the thug clique as it was so identified back then. WAY back then.

Now, thanks to iTunes, I’m going broke catching up on all my old friends. I’ve downloaded Ratt, Iron Maiden and even Cinderella which all took me back to some good times. And I’m still on the hunt for more.

One of my all time favorites will be this KISS song which I think has become one of their forgotten hits. But personally, I think it’s a GREAT song. Bruce Kulick’s guitar at the beginning still gives me chills and their chorus vocals were sharp. After watching the video again, I was like, WTH? Why they went with that day-glo look I’m not sure but I remember thinking “wow, that’s cool.” Yeah, probably explains other things too. And I’m not sure why Paul Stanley is swinging on a vine but whatever. The song still rocks. So I’m going to present you with my first nostalgic video.

Now, to bring it home a bit, I found this video from their Asylum tour in Fort Worth. I went to this concert and W.A.S.P. was the opening act. For two hours, I felt lke the coolest kid on earth. In hindsight, I was a geek.
