Dirk feels the need to win SOMETHING!

Since his last few runs at an NBA championship have gone less than stellar, Dirk is determined to get the gold at the Olympics. And by the looks of this haircut, might be going a little crazy about it. But Brad reveals that Nowitzki will be the flag bearer for Germany which makes me kind of proud…in a weird unpatriotic way. The haircut…not so much.

Diop it Like it’s Hot

I just wanted to say thanks to the Almighty above for answering my prayers by giving me the following headline.

DeSagna Diop returns to Dallas Mavericks six months after trade

This isn’t new news but I forgot to give grace to God for bringing back what the Mavs need. I’m sure Cuban had something to do with it too but seriously, this is all His doing. Totally.

Welcome back, bro!

Although a little weird to see the headline above from The Canadian Press. I much prefer to read Richie’s take on it here.

Black Tie Dynasty gets pucked up

I realize it is wrong of me not to care too much about the Dallas Stars even though they are kicking much ass of late, but it is the simple truth. I don’t care. The fact is that hockey doesn’t interest me much. Three hours for a score that totals less than five – just can’t get behind it. Sorry.

However, I would be willing to head out to their game tomorrow only to see one of my favorite local bands play. I just read that Black Tie Dynasty will be playing tomorrow at the American Airlines Center during the final intermissions of the Stars game against the Detroit Red Wings in front of a practically maximum capacity crowd. Plus, they’ll be playing on the Plaza of the center beforehand at 6 p.m. free and open to everybody.

I imagine they’ll be playing some new stuff since they are on the verge of releasing their new album and have a spankin’ new song up on their page. I hate to admit, the song doesn’t give me the same tingly feeling as their previous albums. Having said that, this version is also a live recording so maybe in its final form, it will go back to days of BTD yore.

My boys are getting back on track again to take the city by storm. I just hope they can start taking the rest of the nation with ‘em. They so deserve it and I don’t what you non-believers say

Plus, I guess while I’m at it, I can say this for once – Go Stars!

Mavs New Coach

Ugh, I was so mopey yesterday that I just now saw that the Mavericks announced late Friday who their new coach is. Mike Fisher over at DallasBasketball.com reports that although he may not be Mr. Right, he’s Mr. Right Now for the team and that would be former Pistons coach, Rick Carlisle. Not Jim Carrey. However, Richie Whitt over at the Sportatorium doesn’t quite see it as a done deal as others have. Sure it’s likely but maybe we’re counting our eggs too soon?

New (?) Mavs coach, Rick Carlisle

Although it does concern me that not even a week has passed and they have practically moved on to another coach. I mean, the season is over, why not take a small break, mourn the loss and then gear up with a smart and slow approach to determing the next coach. Alas, I guess Cuban just wants to get the Mavs asses in gear stat to dominate later in the year.

We hope.

Devin Harris, I miss ya

Just received this from the Devis Harris MySpace page. I’m glad Kidd’s doing some decent work but I really liked Harris’ energy on the team. But as far as grammar and sentence structure, welllll….

I want to thank everyone one in both states for all the support. New Jersey has really supports me up here thanks again. And we will make the playoffs

Ummmm, yeah. Still miss ya, bud!

Whew!

I was getting really worried that we, meaning the Dallas Cowboys, were going to lose offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. He’d been approached by both Baltimore and Atlanta with offers of head coach. Says here though that Mr. Garrett is sticking around. And thank goodness. He’s worthy of being head coach but his work with the Cowboys is pretty phenomenal despite last week’s game. I think so anyways. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that he’s kind of a cutie.

Well played, Jerry Jones.

Why ya Tazin’ me, bro?

I’ve actually requested to be Tazed by my DPD bud whom I have a bet with that the Cowboys would go to the playoffs and win a game as opposed to last year where they, um, didn’t. I had faith in Tony Romo and this season was backing me up until two weeks ago when Philadelphia made me nervous with a strange win over my Boys (thanks for that Jessica Jinxon).

Redskins thump Cowboys to make playoffs

Today, I may be convinced that our chances are waning. Fortunately, said cop whined a couple of weeks ago about the original 20 buck bet down to ten bucks knowing he was going to lose. I let it happen because, well, he has a gun, and well, because, he’s a lot bigger than me and his choke hold is NOT fun. OK, it’s kinda hot but still.

I might owe this guy money.

So at least I may have saved me ten bucks. But if the Boys are gonna get spanked the way they did today and continue to play the way they have been for the past three weeks, well, I’d soon suffer a Tazer attack to numb the pain and potential embarrassment of choking the season away.

Cowboys - the Mavs have broken my heart. You too?

Kenichi-wa Mr. Stackhouse

I just heard that Dallas Maverick and Mr. Awesome, Jerry Stackhouse is making his way over to Kenichi after the game tonight. So check the game and then rush over to Victory Park to be in the presence of greatness. If the Mavs win, buy him a Grey Goose martini. But if they choke tonight, buy him shots. Lots of ‘em.

Here’s the word:

Stackhouse at Kenichi Tonight!

Mavs Fans,

Mavs Guard Jerry Stackhouse will be stopping by Kenichi in Victory Park after tonight’s Mavs game. Come celebrate the Holiday Season with Stack over great food and libations in Dallas’ swankiest restaurant and lounge. In addition, Stack is going to give away an authentic, autographed jersey!

Kenichi features a contemporary Asian cuisine and world class sushi while catering to the hip and sophisticated Dallas diner. Kenichi is located under the South Tower of the W Hotel at 2400 Victory Park Lane, Dallas, TX 75219.

Go Mavs!
