What?? Ya never know…

Maybe tool is harsh but for whatever reason, I could never warm up to the guy when he anchors the Channel 8 news at 5. He’s good yeah but something about him comes off somewhat ersatz in the newscast that I end up losing my attention to what’s going on. I either change the channel (sorry Jeff) or turn it off (sorry WFAA).

But after watching his video blog today, I now have a new opinion. He was a lot more relatable and warmer than I have ever seen the guy before. He even comes off like a really sweet and friendly guy, which he very well may be. Go figure that three minutes or so about today’s Iowa caucus (and thank you, Mr. Brady, for boiling all that down for me) on a webcam, could change an entire person’s perspective.

Yay Jeff Brady.

On the other hand, John McCaa is still John McCaa in both the anchor chair and the desk chair. I love me some McCaa, though. I think he is friggin’ awesome with his stoic serious nature and cool calm voice but what cracks me up is how he SO misuses the word “I” in his vid when he should be saying “me”.

As in, McCaa, yer killing ME!

So after stumbling across the Garland PD sexpots, I was just curious about othe PDs and their goings-on. So I stepped on over to see how the Mesquite police were doing (and because I grew up there and had some curiosity). No hunky calendar models it seems but they do have other issues.

Seeing that Plano has their black tar heroin issues (is that still going on?), Mesquite couldn’t be outdone and went and got hooked on Cheese. You know, that mixture of heroin and Tylenol PM that pretty much f*cks you up. Interestingly enough, this line is from the Wikipedia entry on the recreational drug:

Cheese is a heroin-based recreational drug that surfaced in the United States in 2005 and came to the media’s attention after a string of deaths among adolescents in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, in 2006 and 2007.

Nice.

So Mesquite’s issue became so bad that the PD has a whole page dedicated to the drug complete with video showing who they’ve arrrested and how to deal with the drug making its way into schools. The site is fairly in-depth complete with forum for chatting up issues and even a place to drop some anonymous tips on those friends of yours who prefer the Ultimate Cheeseburger.

Props to the MPD for facing an issue and taking steps. Yeah, all PDs do their tihng but this slick site filled with information is a snazzy way to do it.
