Free Fair for Four

That’s right but only if you get it right with Woofus. He/She/It? is giving away four passes to the State Fair to whoever predicts the right score of Saturday’s Texas/OU game. Personally, I hate college football so you can have at it.

Lots of TX/OU festivities going on this weekend too - duh? My picks? Maybe these:

Adair’s has all this going on -

Thursday 10/4–The Beginning–KING CONE–UT grad bringing it to the stage, so we can start it right

Friday 10/5–The Middle–Macon Greyson–the fifth time Huffman and the boys have played TX/OU weekend, not sure who is opening, but should be righteous…those boys have pretty good taste.

Saturday 10/6–The End–Macon Greyson Pt. II–a lil band from KC called Pendergast is opening…never seen ‘em, but the boys tell me they are badass, and I cannot wait!

The Bone offers up this -

Bar of Soap answers with -

Or you can go here and see lots more stuff going on.

I’m sorry, what?

OK, wait a minute - “accidentally”?? What am I missing here?

Authorities believe Jose Hector Cortes-Lopez, who was convicted last year of indecent exposure, accidentally died from asphyxiation. He was found with a bag over his head at the school in the Wise County town of Rhome.

Maybe you can get a clearer picture here but I didn’t.

Boca Dada needs yer help

Local human dynamo Amanda Newman aka Boca Tinta is now part owner of Deep Ellum fave, Club Dada which trust me, if you know Ms. Newman in the slightest, it is the perfect match. But not she wants to be sure it’s going to be a full house and is inviting everyone to come on out. She even has secret passwords to get in. Cool. So go and check it:

Tonight I embark on my first official show as an owner and as booking manager at Club Dada. It’s been 8 months since my Artist in Residence series ended, which means 8 months since my Listening To: Thursdays ceased…

With just one week’s notice, Chris Gonzalez of the Dirt Blazers agreed to be this month’s AiR and Eastwood stepped up to the plate to play afterwards. I’m grateful for their exuberance and unflinching support during what has been a very overwhelming week for me.

Now I turn to you for support, please come out tonight and celebrate with me a new chapter in my life, kick off what I hope and believe will be a new chapter in Club Dada’s life, and support these amazing people who have agreed to play for all you this evening. I’ll also be stepping up to the mike tonight to let you in on many of the changes we’re planning on making…
