There’s always Half Price Books
Now, I don’t know if Rebecca Aguilar is going to head his way but someone should give him a good knock upside his head. He suspected a yardman working nearby. No description or details about the yardman were given but I would almost make bets that the worker probably wasn’t a white guy. Of course, I don’t know if Mr. Crowell is a white guy but I’ll almost make bets on that too. I’m just saying. Now, moving on. He calls the guy over saying the police are on the phone, scared the guy and out of fright, paid Mr. Crowell $450. “His eyes got as big as half-dollars,” Crowell says. No mention in the article if said yardman was a suspect or anything and no telling what rightfully happened to the money.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and give in to my suspect thoughts. I’m going to assume the yardman was Hispanic. I’m going to say IF that’s the case then the possibility of the man being an illegal immigrant is high as well. Or in some sort of citizen transitional status. Not racial profiling, just possibilities. So if a guy is threatening him with the police, OF COURSE he’s gonna throw down any money he has. The man told the officer he had no idea what he was talking about. AND, although I don’t know if this was the case, WHO has that kind of money readily available anyway? The story implies the man paid up right there and then.
BUT, get this. Crowell had a friend impersonate a policeman on the phone when he was talking to the guy! Seriously! The “policeman” said there were witnesses to the crime and threatened arrest.
UGH. This story makes me so angry. No word either if Crowell’s friend was charged with impersonating a police officer which IS considered a third-degree felony. Mmmhmmm. The article does add that DPD Lt. Michael Woodberry totally discourages this kind of behavior as it can be dangerous for the “victim” involved. Or in this case, dumba$$.
Crowell, sorry you got robbed but they obviously didn’t steal your brain as it wasn’t there to begin with.
