Yeah, but…

Ticket sales are about to get under way for the Mavericks and I’m hoping to snag a few before tickets.com or whatever snags them all up and doubles the prices. Thanks Mavs for preventing that.

Now, you gotta love Mark Cuban. Really. Why? Because of this:

$2 Tickets: In an effort to keep ticket prices as low as possible, the Mavs will also have 500 $2 tickets available for every home game this season. “We want to give all of our fans the opportunity to enjoy a Mavs game,” said Mavs owner Mark Cuban. “For families on a budget, coming to a game and purchasing regularly-priced tickets may not be an option, and I wanted to make sure that we had an extremely affordable ticket available to everyone.”

Great idea, right? OK, so what’s to stop me from getting $2 tickets although I am on a budget. In fact, I could justifiably buy those tickets. But what’s to stop, let’s say Jerry Jones, from buying a $2 tik? Or even the other ticket retailers from buying those cheap seats and jacking the prices up? Mr. Cuban, I love ya, but is there a more well-thought out process behind this, like bringing in our w-4 forms or something?

As great as the intention behind it is, it seems hugely flawed and all the Mavs have to say is, ‘Hey, we did our part.’

Disheartening. Unless I’m wrong of course.

Go Mavs.
