Albrecht Part II

I had written up my thoughts on Mr. Albrecht’s death last night and posted. And then I read my colleague’s article today which showed that we were both on the same page yet hers is a lot more eloquent. So I’ve retired my posting to let you read hers. It will be availble online probably tomorrow but on newsstands now.

You got less than an hour…

…to ante up and win some phat bar tab at The Bone with their Texas Hold ‘Em Tuesdays. I just learned how to play this darn game but I don’t quite get it. It’s easy but personally I want to see what other people have. Makes me feel better about myself when they have sucky cards.

Now get yer shoes on and go.

Grande Mokah Showcase coming up

OK, this is just too much info for me to reiterate so I’m cutting and pasting the highlights just sent out by Live @ Mokah:

  • Life in Deep Ellum and Mokah Coffee Bar are hosting the inaugural Mokah Music Summit & Showcase (M2S2) being held over three weeks in November. The event features a unique showcase opportunity for independent bands and artists where they will compete for top-quality prizes. In addition to the competition, bands and artists will have the opportunity for their music to be heard by local music industry professionals from all aspects of the business.
  • Artists/Bands wishing to be considered for the showcase events must submit three (3) original songs, the name of a contact person and their phone number and email addres.
  • Artists/bands have until October 10, 2007 to submit their materials. Any submissions arriving after the cutoff date will not be considered for the 2007 event. We will review all submissions and select up to 16 artists to compete in the semifinals (November 9 and 16) with five bands moving on to the finals on November 30.
  • …the finals will feature music industry professionals from record labels, radio stations, print media, booking agencies, management companies, venues, promotional firms as well as respected local musicians.
  • If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us here via MySpace or at booking@lifeindeepellum.com.

But read their blog posting for the exact specifics. And then quit b!tching about no record deal and sign yer band up for potential greatness.
