Piazza does Potter

Reverend Michael Piazza held a sermon once about how relevant Harry Potter can be to our lives. Yeah, lots of pastors do that and blah blah blah but Piazza is usually too cool for school when he relates a movie to life and Christianity. I’m not the Bible Beating kind but if you have a chance, take a look and listen. Besides, don’t we need more Harry Hype? And if you’re inclined to pass, well then, the trailer is right below for the newest movie. I’m looking forward to watching it.

Oh my Dirkster

So if you’re interested in what Dirk has been up to, the Mavericks recently gave us a small tidbit of his goings-on. Really small:

So, Dirks is still enjoying his time off, while training with Coach Holger. He will get back to work in August to play with the German team. Also included, a picture of Dirk receiving a b-day gift.

You got the Guts?

Guts and Glory is just around the corner. Are you ready? Do you know what it is? Eesh.

It’s a competition for teams of filmmakers are given a 100′ of film to create a short film within 24 hours. There’s usually a theme involved that isn’t given out until it starts. And then the final products are screened as part of f the Dallas Video Festival. Where they also give out awards for Best Overall, Best Cinematography, Best Live Performance. Actors, forget it. Here are some more details:

On Friday, July 27th, a limited number of teams of daring filmmakers will gather at the Magnolia Lounge to receive their mission and 100 feet of 16 mm reversal film. At the stroke of midnight, we will reveal the surprise theme, location, and prop which each team will creatively incorporate into their film. The teams will race to their cars and begin a 24-hour moviemaking marathon in which they write and shoot in sequence a 3-minute film incorporating the surprise elements. No later than midnight the following night, the teams must carry their completed film across the finish line.

Once the finished films are collected, we will send them off to be processed and put onto a reel. No one will see the films until they are screened at the Angelika Film Center in Mockingbird Station on August 1, during the Dallas Video Festival.

So if you got what it takes, I’d highly suggest you start getting your team together now. It’s just around the corner and this could be your ticket to a future Oscar. Or, MTV award.
