Early Voting

Looks like the Dallas Voice Readers Voice Awards are underway and they are looking for your votes. Well, maybe your votes. For those who don’t know, the Dallas Voice is the weekly local gay/lesbian newspaper and a good one at that. Everyone should read it. But I know they won’t. -grumble-

I probably shouldn’t encourage everyone to vote but personally, I think it takes all kinds to take part in these. And I really really hope the gay community who votes won’t vote on the obvious and maybe think outside the box. Hey guys and gals…there’s more to us than Oak Lawn!

Ballots need to be submitted by January 31. As an incentive, the Voice will select a ballot as a winner of two round trip tickets to “U.S. 48 states, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean and Bermuda.” Just not sure which 48 states. Heh

Get your ballot here and vote now!

Whore Cheerleaders

I’m trying to think if the cheerleaders from my school were this way. The ones I knew were always pretty nice and in the honor society and what not. Of course we had some of the stereotypical blonde dumb cheerleaders who probably look at high school as the best years of their lives but hey, which school doesn’t?

Looks like McKinney North High School cheerleaders are seeing that line of tease and doing a herkey far beyond it into trashy. According to this article, the young ladies (ahem) are boozing it up, acting slutty and dissing on their teachers. I don’t remember all that in Bring it On. And a bunch of their antics were caught on camera and of course, photos are splattered all over the internet. Where, I’m not sure. But I bet Condom Sense is happy for the ladies’ endorsement.

I think this is all pretty funny considering the National Cheerleaders Association’s Senior and Junior High School National Championships were just here in Dallas. I wonder if the MNHS cheerleaders were in contention for the top prize.

Read the article.

One….Two…Three…Four…..Guess which of us is a whore?

Local Bars are Tops…ok, just a couple. And not even in Dallas.

Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth and Mercy Wine Bar in Addison were included in the top 100 bars and clubs in the US by way of the Editors’ Choice Top 100 for 2007 listing by national trade magazine Nightclub & Bar. Although I wonder what their criteria was. Nothing in Dallas made the list? No Cosmo’s? The Cavern? Brooklyn Jazz Cafe? Ahh well, we’ll get ‘em next year. Right, Lee Harveys?

By the way, got word of this via Pegasus News.

Your Wednesday Night Plans - Dinner and a Movie.

Tomorrow night, you can head over to the AllGood Cafe for their new film festival event Rock n Reel 2007 every Wednesday. Presented in conjunction with the Video Association of Dallas, the series is to highlight “the best of music in film and video” and with that they’ll be screening Robert Altman’s 1975 pseudo-classic Nashville. Personally, I’m not a big fan of that movie. Bored me to tears but I can see it’s genius. Presented on large screen projection, entry to the flick is five bucks which benefits the Association and KNON 89.3 Community Radio. Plus, you can eat too. And say hi to owner Mike Snider. One of the coolest and nicest guys in big D.

Of course, now I feel compelled to offer my movie suggestions only cause I’m a film geek. There’s always the newer stuff like Ray and Walk the Line but I hope they’ll consider Lady Sings the Blues. That’s quickly moving up my list of favorites. I’ll also wish for The Doors, Coal Miner’s Daughter and Hustle and Flow. But that’s just me.

By the way, this may give you an idea of the movie:
