Round ‘Em Up, Cowboy

One of my favorite places in town got some pretty decent attention recently. I do take small pleasure in the fact that we might have known this beforehand. And the Voice knew it before us! Check it out here at Unfair Park. I don’t get there too often but I may end up there Sunday night for their special event.

Go Turtle Go

Just got this email from Dr. Tim Seelig, artistic director of the Turtle Creek Chorale. I have to offer congratulations on their success with this show. If you have not seen one of their Christmas concerts, I highly recommend it. I’m a huge fan of the TCC but it’s their holiday shows that are absolute magic. Only this year, I’m afraid you’ll be out of of luck. But their cd’s come very close.

We have sold every single seat in the Meyerson for this Sunday. Not just every single seat they normally fill, but every single seat in the Choral Terrace (behind the singers) as well as the two lofts above that on the sides. There is not one single seat left to sell. This is the first time in a long time that we have had a true 110% sell out of a concert. Should be fun

I’ll be there this Sunday. But by the sounds of it, I’m gonna have to be there early!

Let the Oscar race begin…

Being the movie geek that I am, this time of year only adds to my holiday season. See, practically every week from here on out there will be some new critic’s choice for best picture, actor, etc. But the biggest one before the Oscars is of course, the Golden Globes which are nominated and selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. I don’t even know who they are but the GG’s are always fun. I can never take them too seriously and they’ve become less indicative of the Oscars as they were maybe a decade ago but with ten nominees for best pic? That’s great! Comedy and Drama in case you’re wondering.

And they are such kiss asses too. I guarantee any former Oscar winner or Hollywood legend nominated in any TV category, will win. Simple as that.

The good thing is, the awards are never unnecessarily long. Three hours, yeah, but with both tv and film, it remains fairly entertaining the whole way through.

Why am I saying all this? Oh, just cause the Golden Globe noms were announced today. Lots of obvious picks. Still, lots of surprises. I won’t make my picks this early though.

And the nominees are:
