Seven Day G-Man 9-24

Not sure if you recall, but I told you before this week’s SDGM was a future winner. And the future is now. If I you will allow me to introduce you to my friend, Zach who is this week’s hottie.

There’s a certain awkardness in giving this title to a friend but he may be the one guy I know who will a) relish in my choice, b) use it against me and c) have the grace to accept it. So why this week? Well, I blame it all on Saturday night out.

My friend Beth, her friend Esther and I all went out to Envy’s launch party in Deep Ellum. It was a big to do but so not our scene. Party kids, huge crowds, pretension and a bitch of a parking situation did not make for a good time. After our deserved free drinks, we headed out to hook up with Zach and his gang.

Meeting him in Uptown, we went to the McKinney Avenue Tavern for drinks and chats and karaoke criticisms. The place itself is actually pretty enjoyable. I wouldn’t go often but I’m not opposed to it a la the Idle Rich Pub. MAT is simply a sports bar with ample space and not too loud atmosphere. For me, there’s always that slight tension of different groups meeting out who don’t know each other. I know some of his friends, he’s met Beth but I just always think people are gonna fight and yell and throw drinks. Or at the very least not be compatible. But the Z was a genuine host. That’s usually my role. Hmmm…am I being usurped?

After our drinks, he joined us at the Exposition Park Cafe for some late night eats. Despite the lack of attention we were receiving from the staff there, we had a good time (I’d link to them but I’m still pissed off from that night). All in all, Zach is good company. Smart, funny, talkative. And I’m glad to call him friend. Now, him and the white suit? Well…maybe hotties have momentary sartorial lapses of reasoning too. I’m hoping that’s what it is.

And don’t get me started on his damn winking bit.

Knowing Zach, he maybe happy to see that he beat out my frontrunner for most of this week. Thanks to the cover story on The Advocate, Julian McMahon had it. Speaking of future winners, JM is probably one.
