RE: A new tidbit about your mayoral candidate Zac Crain

I’m a bit biased toward this one. Mostly because it’s my friend and colleague’s interview with Zac Crain. And WeeDemon is GRID’s unofficial big blog sister. He wants to be just like her!

A new tidbit about mayoral candidate Zac Crain

Mr. Crain gives us a slight tidbit of what to expect from a big time mag. But their website doesn’t even have their latest issue up! Slackers!

A Fallout @ the Fallout Lounge

Well shucks. I wrote all this up last night only for the blog.com serverto not respond. So here we go again.

Monday nights are usually the worst nights to go out. Yeah, it’s the first day of the week but also, nobody’s doing anything. No special events or whatever. Which makes it worse since that’s most of my posse’s free night. Yes, I have a posse.

A few weeks ago I came across the Fallout Lounge’s Open Mic Mondays and it was getting quite the buzz. Wee Demon recommended it. Hunter Hauk’s podcast was fairly interesting when he was there (I can’t find it online) and the Fine Line wrote it up pretty nice like. It was becoming the place to be on Monday nights.

Or so I thought.

We got there about 930ish and waited about an hour for anything to start. The five of us were the only one’s in the place without instruments and everyone else just sat, drank and I guess waited for someone else to get up there first. The bartender watching the game wasn’t much of a help.

Then Nerdy Rockstar and his drummer got up to do their half assed acoustic Panic! like set. They were rockin’ away but it was more noise than melody. To his credit, he’s up there doing something but Rockstar, please consider making it palatable for the masses.

Afterward, Lilith Fair chick got up with her Jewel/Tori/McLaughlin number. Chick, that stuff is so mid-90s/Felicity. Move along.

Only to be followed by Emo Guy doing his Elliot Smith renditions. I was hoping for his business card to contact should I be in the need of assisted suicide.

One of us had to get on home so it was an early night. But at 11:30, we were already suffering from the auditory raping at the hands of musical vandals.

On my way home, I decided to take a detour to Alt Music Mondays at JR’s. It’s nice to see a gay bar stray away from the usual disco/techno bit and I kept meaning to check it out. Turns out I had just missed Proofed play. I had no idea JR’s was hosting live bands. According to the bartender, it’s just a once a month thing right now but should change soon. Hope it’s good. Otherwise, I enjoyed a generic video lineup of All American Rejects, HIM, Panic!, Evanescence and others. But despite the minimal crowd, it was good to watch and listen. And props to Proofed for playing a gay bar. Not my type of music (metal) but I have a whole lotta respect for them just by doing that. It says volumes.

Somehow though, my drinks snuck up on me. And my friends had to suffer at my mad text skills. Note to self (and to you!): Don’t Drink and Text!

Here’s Panic! At the Disco for ya. Love these guys.
